Hosts Italy finished the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Cross-Country World Cup in Toblach in style as they won the men's 4x7.5 kilometres relay.

Federico Pellegrino, Dietmar Noeckler, Francesco De Fabiani and Simone Dapra posted a time of 1hour 7min 20.8sec to clinch the title.

The win was first victory for Italy in relay since January 2006.

The Swedish team of Eric Rosjoe, Calle Halfvarsson, Johan Haeggstroem and Edvin Anger got silver, finishing the race 0.6sec later.

Sjur Røthe, Didrik Tønseth, Simen Hegstad Krueger and Harald Østberg Amundsen of Norway completed the podium spots, clocking 1:07:21.4.

"The goal was defence, to stay there (in the race)," Noeckler said.

"We know that with Pellegrino in the last leg we have maybe one of the best finishers and thanks to the whole team, (we got a) victory for us and for the whole Italian team."

However, the women from Norway finished the discipline on top of the podium.

Heidi Weng, Anne Kjersti Kalvå, Ingvild Flugstad Østberg and Silje Theodorsen ensured that Norway women won their 15t gold in 16 cross-country relays comfortably.

The crossed the line in 26.7sec faster than the Swedish team of Emma Ribbon, Ebba Andersson, Moa Ilar and Jonna Sundling who clocked 1:16:31 for silver.

Hailey Swirbul, Rosie Brennan, Jessie Diggins and Julia Kern of the United States won the bronze medal, finishing the line in 1:16:31.2.

The World Cup is going into a five-week break and is scheduled to return in Oslo on March 11.
