Representatives from the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) and Russian Skating Union (RSU) are to participate in International Skating Union (ISU) conferences next month, despite the fact its athletes are currently banned from competing outside the country due to the invasion of Ukraine.

RSU President Nikolay Gulyaev and FFKKR director general Alexander Kogan confirmed this to Russian state news agency TASS.

Kogan said the FFKKR is to attend the conference due to take place at the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, with the competition scheduled for March 20 to 26.

Russians and Belarusians are still unable to compete in ISU events, per the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee following the invasion of Ukraine by the nations.

"Representatives of the federation will participate in the ISU conference," Kogan old Russia's official state news agency TASS.

Gulyaev revealed that he was invited to another ISU conference, coinciding with the World Single Distance Speed Skating Championships in The Netherlands, scheduled to take place from March 2 to 5.

He added that he will be accredited for the event.

"I will be in The Netherlands on March 1 before the World Speed Skating Championships, I have already received an official invitation and accreditation for the World Championships," Gulyaev told TASS.

"The ISU conference will be held in Japan in the figure skating line, and in the Netherlands in the speed skating line."
