Argentina’s Lionel Messi and the French duo of Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema are finalists for the Best FIFA Men’s Player Awards for 2022, with the women’s category featuring England’s Beth Mead, Alex Morgan of the United States and Spain’s Alexia Putellas.

These two awards are given to the outstanding players in women’s and men’s football as voted for by an international jury respectively comprising the current coaches of all women’s and men’s national teams (one per team), the current captains of all women’s and men’s national teams (one per team), one specialist journalist from each territory represented by a national team and fans registered on FIFA.com.

Three nominees have been named for the FIFA Puskás Award, which honours the "most beautiful" goal of the calendar year.

They are Poland’s Marcin Oleksy for his goal for Warta Poznan against Stal Rzeszów on November 6, France’s Dmitri Payet for his effort on behalf of Olympique de Marseille against PAOK Thessaloniki FC in the UEFA Europa Conference League on April 7 and Brazil’s Richarlison for his goal against Serbia at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on November 24.

The award is named in honour of Ferenc Puskás, a Real Madrid forward during the 1950s and 1960s and a central member of the highly successful Hungarian side of the same era.
