British snow sports head coach Pat Sharples has called on German airline Lufthansa to urgently find the team's competition equipment after it went missing during a flight to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships.

A team of 13 competitors from Britain had flown to the event in Bakuriani, Georgia, with the airline.

Sharples has today been trying to contact airline officials to locate the missing equipment and has issued a plea for help on social media.

"Anyone got a direct contact to someone at @lufthansa who might be able to help us?" Sharples wrote on Twitter.

"The airline have lost all our equipment and we can’t get hold of them and we have the @FISfreestyle world champs.

"Please share and spread.

"Thank you."

"Obviously this isn't an ideal situation, but we build contingency into our competition preparations to cover for eventualities such as these," a GB Snowsport statement said.

"We're hopeful that a swift resolution will be forthcoming, and appreciate Lufthansa's assistance in ensuring all of the team's kit reaches Bakuriani promptly."

The first Briton scheduled to compete is Ollie Davies, who is due to take part in the ski cross qualification phase on Thursday.

It will be his third appearance at the FIS Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships.

At the last edition of the event held in Idre Fall in Sweden two years ago, Davies achieved a career best fourth in the big final.

The FIS Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships are scheduled to continue until March 5.
