Langenhan managed a track record of 51.640sec in the second run, on his way to finishing in a time of 1min 43.64sec.

Earlier Langenhan, who won three medals at this year’s World Championships in Oberhof, finished second in run one in 51.724.

Jonas Mueller of Austria took second place with runs of 51.828 and 51.715, as he finished in 1:43.543.

The podium was completed by Austria’s Nico Gleirscher, who finished in 1:43.603, after runs of 51.845 and 51.758.

After posting the fastest time in run one of 51.688, Wolfgang Kindl of Austria faded in his second run as he finished in fourth place overall in 1:43.693.

Fifth place went to Dominik Fischnaller of Italy in 1:43.747, enough to clinch the first overall Luge World Cup title of his career.

Fischnaller was in a race with Germany’s Felix Loch for the overall crown, however Loch was only able to finish seventh on the day in Winterberg in 1:43.783.

In the season’s final team relay which followed Austria’s line-up of Madeleine Egle, Jonas Mueller and double Juri Gatt and Riccardo Schoepf triumphed in a track record of 2:22.732.

Germany’s team of Anna Berreiter, men’s singles champion Langenhan and double Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt took silver in 2:23.291, 0.559 behind.

The podium was completed by the United States line-up of Emily Sweeney, Tucker West and double Zachary Di Gregorio and Sean Hollander who claimed bronze in 2:23.570, 0.838 behind the winning team.

Germany are the only team to make the podium in each of the season’s six World Cup team relays, and took the overall crown with 540 points, from Latvia on 470 and Austria on 340.
