Olha Vasylenko and Viktoriya Vashchyshyn produced dominant displays in the Karate 1-Series A to keep Ukraine's medal hopes alive in Konya.

Vasylenko dispatched Kazakhstan's Malika Abzhanova in the women's under-50-kilogram kumite contest to confirm her status as a pool winner.

She prevailed 4-1 after previously getting the better or Slovenian Ursa Haberl, Aika Okazaki of Japan, Kazakh Zeituna Baiarystan, and Tunisia's Sirine Gallaouid.

The Ukrainian is due to meet El Salvador's Gabriella Izaguirre, the other pool winner, in the gold medal-match.

Izaguirre is in scintillating form after decimating her previous opponents.

Sevil Bas of Turkey was easily beaten 9-1 after Tunisian Islem Ben Hassen fell to a 10-3 defeat.

Prior to the resounding wins, she scraped past Aigerim Tursynbekova of Kazakhstan and Iran's Zeynab Jafarnejad 3-2 in both bouts.

Vasylenko's compatriot Vashchyshyn is scheduled to duel Turkey's Gulbahar Gozutok in the women's under-61kg decider.

She beat Turks Nurbade Buber and Fatma Naz Yenen, and Yuki Kujuro of Japan en route to the final.

Gozutok represents a fierce challenge as she has conceded no more than two points in any of her previous fights in the competition.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Nejra Sipovic awaits Bella Samasheva of Kazakhstan in the women's under-55kg battle as they triumphed in the pool rounds.

Finalists were also decided in two men's events in the Turkish city.

Fatih Enes Kurt of Turkey and Amir Mehdizadeh of Iran will battle it out for the under-67kg title.

Before that, Enes Kurt's countryman Faruk Ates Omer goes up against Carmine Luciano of Italy for the under-60kg crown.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with 18 gold medals due to be won across kumite and kata disciplines.
