Knapik-Miazga triumphed first at BOK Hall in the Hungarian capital with a tense 11-10 win to deny home favourite and world number six Anna Kun gold.

The two-time world bronze medallist defeated Estonian Nelli Differt and Frenchwoman Alexandra Louis Marie en route to the women's title.

Differt and France's Marie-Florence Candassamy picked up the bronze medals after falling to semi-final defeats.

The final saw both athletes start cautiously and were warned twice in the first three minutes for not attacking.

Kun then forced her way into a 7-5 lead before Knapik-Miazga flipped the switch and surged into a 10-8 advantage.

The Hungarian levelled it but could not complete the comeback as her opponent saw an opening and jabbed for the gold.

Later on in the day, world championships silver medallist Cimini downed Yonatan Cohen of Israel 15-13 in the men's gold medal-match.

Cimini's compatriot Valerio Cuomo and Gaétan Billa of France also made it to the podium with bronze, with the latter achieving the first top three finish of his career.

Cimini pulled off an upset against Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Gergely Siklósi on his way to the deciding match-up.

The Grand Prix is set to return next week with the Busan event scheduled from March 17 to 19.

In South Korea, athletes will compete in men's and women's individual foil events.
