Bahrain is to hold a ceremony in honour of Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his team-mates after their success at the International Equestrian Federation Endurance World Championships in the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Nasser, the fourth born son of the King of Bahrain and a former President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), claimed two gold medals at the event in Abu Dhabi.

He captured the individual title before captaining Bahrain to team gold for the first time.

More than 120 athletes from more than 30 nations raced over 160 kilometres across the Abu Dhabi desert as they battled it out for honours.

Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the current BOC President and also a son of the King, will give a speech at the ceremony here on Sunday (March 19).

The story of Sheikh Nasser's career will also be told at the event.

"The public ceremony comes in honour of the huge historic achievement of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa," the BOC said.
