Tiril Udnes Weng sealed the women's International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Cross-Country World Cup Crystal Globe in Lahti, and her Norwegian compatriots Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and Kristine Stavås Skistad continued their fine finishes to the season with sprint classic victories.

Weng's overall title came by virtue of qualifying for the final at the Lahti Stadium in the Finnish resort.

Skistad earned a fourth consecutive sprint victory at the end of a remarkable breakthrough year on the World Cup circuit, while Sweden's Maja Dahlqvist leapfrogged Switzerland's Nadine Fähndrich to win the sprint Crystal Globe.

Skistad again held off Sweden's Olympic champion Jonna Sundling to triumph in 3min 8.63sec, beating her closest challenger by just 0.13.

Weng was 6.55 off the pace in third place, moving on to 1,983 points to win her first Crystal Globe.

Jessie Diggins of the United States is her closest challenger on 1,829, but ranked 16th in the sprint after failing to progress past the quarter-finals.

The results ensured Dahlqvist took the sprint title by seven points over Fähndrich with 944, after ranking fourth at 7.38 off the pace.

In the men's event, back-to-back Olympic individual and team sprint champion Klæbo earned a fifth straight victory in all disciplines to equal Norwegian Marit Bjørgen's record of 40 World Cup wins in the short distance.

Klæbo finished in 2:48.58 to hold off Sweden's Calle Halfvarsson by 0.75 and Norway's Erik Valnes by 0.93.

Overall and sprint World Cup winner Klæbo would equal his compatriot Therese Johaug's record of 20 wins in a season if he triumphs in tomorrow's 20 kilometres mass start.

Klæbo combined with Valnes to win the men's freestyle team sprint in Lahti yesterday, notching 16:28.29 to stave off Italy's Francesco De Fabiani and Federico Pellegrino by 0.68.

Norway's Harald Østberg Amundsen and Sindre Bjørnestad Skar were third in 16:30.96.

Emma Ribom and Sundling won the women's freestyle team sprint in 18:47.78, beating Norway's Julie Myhre and Anne Kjersti Kalvå by 4.57 and Germany's Laura Gimmler and Coletta Rydzek by 5.12.

The FIS Cross-Country World Cup is set to conclude tomorrow with the mass start classic races.
