French cyclist Christophe Laporte claimed another win at the men's Dwars door Vlaanderen, while Dutch rider Demi Vollering was victorious in the women's race.

Jumbo-Visma's Laporte won his second race in a row in Belgium after his victory three days earlier at the Gent-Wevelgem, another leg of the International Cycling Union World Tour.

Laporte, a world road race silver medallist, finished with a time of 4 hours 6min 20sec to power through and win the race that he came second in during the 2021 season.

In second place was Movistar's Oier Lazkano of Spain, who completed the race 15 seconds behind the Frenchman to claim his first podium finish of the season.

American Neilson Powless, representing EF Education-EasyPost, ended third and also secured his first top three finish this term.

He was inches from second place in a tight battle which saw the rest of the top 10 cyclists in contention to snag a medal.

"A difficult day but a great day," said Laporte.

"All the team were great.

"I'm very happy to win again.

"I was strong on the climbs and made the selections there.

"It was a good collaboration in the group."

In the women's race, Vollering guided her team SD Worx to victory as she ended in a time of 2:53.04.

Italy's Chiara Consonni, representing United Arab Emirates Team ADQ, finished in second place as she came home 38 seconds behind the winner.

Jumbo-Visma rider and Vollering's compatriot Marian Vos rounded off the podium in third.

Cyclists now turn their attention to the Tour of Flanders, which will also take place in Belgium on April 2.
