The Government of Victoria has appointed building designers for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with several firms set to work on two venues in Geelong.

Included is the Aquatics Centre in Armstrong Creek and a venue for weightlifting, gymnastics and powerlifting in Warun Ponds.

The venues will be built in the next three years, costing around AUD$300 million (£160 million/$200 million/€184 million).

Armstrong Creek will be worked on by Warren and Mahoney in a partnership with Four18 Architecture of Geelong as design consultants.

It will have three pools which will be used during the Commonwealth Games for competition, warm-ups and diving.

It will also feature a multi-sports court, a community pool and green open space.

ARM Architecture, an Australian firm, will be leading the design for the Baanip Boulevard in Waurn Ponds.

The Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games will be taking place from March 17 to 29.

Venue hubs will be spread out over a wide area in the Australian state - a first for the Games.
