The 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Under-23 World Cup is due to take place in China, and is set to be the first ever WBSC event to occur in mainland China.

It will take place at the Shaoxing Baseball Softball Sports Culture Centre, which is set to host baseball and softball competition during the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

The stadium houses 5,000 seats and could add 5,000 temporary seats with a second field that has 1,500 seats and can add 1,000 temporary seats.

Competitors will be staying at a training centre with a five-star hotel that has 275 rooms, 2,000 dining seats, a 900 square metres banquet hall, theme restaurants and various conference rooms that are managed by the Shoulv Nanyuan hotel group.


Baseball and softball have been on China's radar, with the Shaoxing Municipal Bureau of Sports and the Shaoxing Municipal Bureau of Education launching in April of last year to introduce the sport to 30 primary and secondary schools.

Last year's World Cup was held in Taipei, where Japan defeated South Korea in the final to win their second title.

The first ever WBSC U-23 World Cup was held in 2014, with the 2024 edition set to mark the sixth version of the tournament.
