The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached an agreement with ARound, a fan engagement platform, as they look to enhance the crowd experience at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse arena during the National Basketball League (NBA) Playoffs.

The partnership, which has been named "Cavs ARcade" will allow fans to engage with the court and each other digitally as they will be able to see real-time effects on the arena's jumbotron through mass multi-user gaming and 3D player personalities amongst other effects.

It will also feature a chain-shot contest from which fans can win team jerseys and autographed merchandise.

Another feature will be The Wine and Gold' Landslide', which will be an arena-wide multiplayer game that lets fans support their team colours.

The Cavaliers are currently facing the New York Knicks in the first round of NBA Playoffs, as the match-up heads to game 3 tomorrow with the series tied at one win each.

This is their first appearance in the Playoffs since 2018, the year in which they reached the NBA Finals thanks to Lebron James.

However, they lost the Finals to Golden States Warriors four games to none.

Josh Beatty, the founder and chief executive of ARound, spoke on the company's first partnership with an NBA franchise.

"We're seeing a growing appetite from sports teams to keep existing fans engaged and capture new, younger audiences, who are recognising the ease in which ARound naturally integrates and complements the action of the game," said Beatty, according to Sport Innovation Society.

"So far, fans have responded very positively to these interactive experiences, with engagement times exceeding our expectations."

Brandon Jirousek, the vice-president of digital for the Cavaliers, also expressed his opinion the matter.

"Everything is amplified in the NBA playoffs, we knew we had to take our fan experience to another level as well, and we couldn't be more excited to team up with ARound to help us do that with Cavs ARcade," he said.

"Innovation is at the core of who we are and this is the latest example of how we strive to explore new ways to engage our fan base and enhance their interactions with the team."

The platform will be used during home games and watch parties in the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse of away games.
