Cambodia's gold medal tally keeps ticking over at the Southeast Asian Games as they recorded a 3x3 basketball triumph in the men's tournament while Vietnam prevailed in the women's in Phnom Penh.

Dorsey Darrinray, Sayeed Pridgett, Brandon Jerome Peterson, and Chhorath Tep combined to seal a 29th gold for the host nation.

The team maintained a 100 per cent record in the men's competition at the Morodok Techo National Stadium.

They progressed from Group B in first place with wins against Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia with the Thais advancing too in second position.

The quintet then got the better of Group A runners-up Vietnam in the semi-finals by a score of 21 to 19.

A comprehensive final score of 20-15 in the gold medal-match against the Philippines gave Cambodia their first 3x3 gold at the regional Games.

Thailand cruised past Vietnam 21-13 in the bronze-medal match to round out the top three.

Vietnam then emulated the hosts' success as Trương Thảo My, Trương Thảo Vy, Huỳnh Thị Ngoan, and Nguyễn Thị Tiểu Duy produced five straight wins.

They dominated Group A of the women's tournament with wins over the Philippines, Thailand, and Laos.

A 21-18 defeat of Indonesia then followed in the semi-final before they took a second victory over the Philippines, this time in the deciding match.

Indonesia prevented another podium place for Cambodia with a 21-15 result in the bronze medal-match.

Cambodia now moves up to 29 gold, 21 silver and 22 bronze medals after the second official day of competition.

Thailand and Indonesia follow behind with 16 golds apiece, but Thailand's 17 silvers gives them the advantage to occupy second.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with a massive 73 gold medals set to be won.
