There was a thriller at the Nokia Arena in Tampere as Finland overcame France 5-3 to register their second win of the tournament.

France opened the scoring inside the first minute when Florian Chakiachvili netted.

Harri Pesonen and Ahti Oksanen both scored to put Finland in front before Justin Addamo grabbed the equaliser for France.

Marko Antilla put Finland back in front before Teemu Hartikainen scored their fourth.

France refused to give in as Charles Bertrand cut the deficit to 4-3, setting up a tense finale before Sakari Manninen settled matters with a late strike.

The other Group A match saw the US sweep aside Austria 4-1 to make it four wins from four to top the standings.

Rocco Grimaldi broke the deadlock in the 27th minute before Austria responded with a goal from Thomas Raffl.

The US hit back immediately with a strike from Carter Mazur and did not look back as Lane Hutson and Nick Perbix found the net.

In Group B, Latvia picked up their second win of the tournament with a 2-1 triumph against Norway at the Arena Riga.

Two goals in the space of 40 seconds from Rodrigo Abols and Toms Andersons proved the key to victory.

Ludvig Hogg gave Norway hope with a goal just before the end of the second period but Latvia managed to hold on for the win.

Canada were on fire in Riga as they extended their winning run to four matches with a 5-1 thrashing of Kazakhstan.

Three of Canada’s goals came in the first eight minutes as MacKenzie Weegar struck first before Lawson Crouse netted a quick-fire double.

Adil Beketayev got one back for Kazakhstan but Canada eased to victory with goals from Joe Veleno and Samuel Blais.

Competition is due to continue tomorrow.
