Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) President Mustapha Berraf believes that the upcoming African Beach Games in Tunisia will be on "another level" to the inaugural event.

Hammamet is due to hold the second edition of the multi-sport event from June 23 to 30, after the maiden edition in Cape Verde in 2019.

A total of 52 countries are expected to attend with 14 sports on the programme - beach handball, beach soccer, beach volleyball, beach tennis, 3x3 basketball, coastal rowing, open water swimming, sea kayaking, beach kata karate, beach wushu, air badminton, beach wrestling, teqball and a 10 kilometres race.

Padel and fencing will be held as demonstration sports, while Yoyo, a mosaic shell, has been named as mascot.

The ANOCA General Assembly is due to be held on June 22 on the eve of the Games.

"Hammamet is fascinating even before the start of the second African Beach Games, with the quality of preparations, the level of organisation and the popular aspect that heralds a real celebration of African sport," said Berraf.

"It is a hectic schedule for African youths and, as we keep saying, they are our focal concern.

"These Games will be extraordinary for our African athletes, who will once again be at the heart of the action.

"It will also be a platform for promoting Olympic values and sustainable development."

Berraf was pleased with the first edition of the African Beach Games four years ago, but believes Tunisian organisers will set a new benchmark.

"The decision taken by the African Olympic Movement to organise the African Beach Games was a major move in favour of the continent's youths," he said.

"We were satisfied with the first edition and this second edition is simply at another level.

"For ANOCA, Hammamet will be a memorable success."
