The British quartet of Katy Burke, Heather Fell (pictured), Freyja Prentice and Mhairi Spence all qualified for the final from today's semi-finals at Medway Park.

Jan Bartu, Pentathlon GB Performance Director, said: "Without underestimating the strength of the opposition, we did expect to get all four through today.

"It's going to be a really interesting final now from our point of view."

Twenty-one-year Prentice looked the most comfortable of the Brits, qualifying in third place in semi-final B after going into the combined run/shoot in fifth.

Burke was 10th in the same semi.

Spence had earlier finished fourth in semi-final A, and said "finishing in the top-18 today was all that was important.

"I didn't really feel I had my finger on the pulse today, I think I was a bit nervous, but I made it through and did enough to make the final."

Fell also made sure she progressed into the final, finishing 14th in semi-final A. "I'm relieved to be through.

"Nothing was really great today, but I was quite pleased with my shooting," she said.

"I didn't give it everything today, so there should be a lot more there, so I'm really looking forward to the competition on Sunday."

A top-18 finish was needed in each of the semis to qualify a place in Sunday's final, where eight much-sought after Olympic qualification spots will be up for grabs.
