Dumaguete's city sports officer Joe Guirit said that they are looking to find the youngsters through a sports festival at Batang Pinoy next month, and this echoed sentiments expressed by former basketball player Chito Loyzaga (pictured), who is now a commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The festival will see regional eliminations held for youngsters aged between 13 and 15 on November 10.

It is a multi-event sports competition, which was created by the PSC to provide a grassroots programme based on the sport and play values.

Similar events will be taking place in Zamboanga, Baguio and Makati, with the final national competition set to be staged in Naga from December 10 to 13.

It is the first time the event has been held since 2004 in Puerto Princesa, and it will include sports ranging from archery to chess and gymnastics.
