In total 7,300 items of furniture will fit out 375 flats and 929 rooms, and with 80 days until the start of the Games on January 13, the process has begun.

More than 10,000 hours will go into furnishing the Olympic Village, and once fully fitted, 1,059 athletes will be staying in them prior to and during the Games.

Charitable and not for profit organisations will benefit from the furniture after the Youth Olympic Games are completed.

Meanwhile Austrian architects Kaufhaus Tyrol have been announced as an official supplier to the Youth Olympic Games.

"Kaufhaus Tyrol is the perfect symbiosis of traditional and modern elements," Innsbruck 2012 chief executive Peter Bayer said.

"This is also very much the case when it comes to the Winter Youth Olympic Games, which will act as a bridge between the successful past and an open, innovative future.

"In order to be successful later on in their careers, budding athletes must have the best possible conditions from a young age."

René Benko, chief executive of SIGNA Holding, who own Kaufhaus Tyrol, added: "That is why I am so convinced of the importance of the Winter Youth Olympic Games and so pleased that the first ever edition will take place in Innsbruck."

The Games run from January 13 to 22, and they will be the first Winter Youth Olympics, following on from the success of the Singapore Youth Olympics last summer.
