Nanjing 2014_hold_ceremony_to_find_proposals_for_opening_and_closing_April_2012April 9 - A ceremony to launch the global search for Opening and Closing Ceremony proposals for the 2014 Youth Summer Olympics in Nanjing has taken place.

In attendance for the event at the Nanjing Radio and Television Mansion were a number of prominent local leaders, including Yang Weize (pictured), the chairman of Nanjing 2014.

A short video was played before Weize made a speech and explained the main criteria of the search, before teenagers from across the world released the official solicitation announcement.

Nanjing 2014 is looking for a clearly defined theme, with distinctive features and rich content for the Ceremonies, they said.

They also want proposals which will engage youngsters and provide a memorable experience, whilst also being cost effective.

Last year Nanjing 2014 vice-secretary Liu Yian pledged to follow in the lead of Singapore and Innsbruck, hosts of the first ever Summer and Winter Youth Olympic Games respectively, in organising a cost effective event.

Only one new stadium and a Youth Olympic Village need to be constructed for Nanjing 2014.

The Organising Committee are also looking to demonstrate their vision as "a green, dynamic and cultural Youth Olympic Games."

Nanjing 2014 also want their slogan, "Share the Games, Share our Dreams", which was revealed last year, to be incorporated into the ceremonies.

The closing date for proposals is September 30, 2012, and bidders are required to submit their ideas in accordance with the requirements set out by Nanjing 2014.
