This year, for the first time, there are three distinct medal stand outfits to be worn by medalists of different sports in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Each of the three looks features a modern interpretation of classic head-to-toe silhouettes that combine performance and innovation as well as sustainability.

Of the new clothing, USOC managing director of consumer products and licensing Peter Zeytoonjian said: "Nike has developed a groundbreaking concept for US athletes on the medal stand in London with innovative looks and thoughtful details that speak to American pride."

These "thoughtful details" consist of Team USA badges stitched inside jackets above the heart and the nation's flag and mottos featuring in unusual places that only the wearer might be aware of.

"Look One" (pictured below, left) features the Nike 21st Century Windrunner, Bowerman Tech Pant and Flyknit Trainer+ and will be worn by medal winners in the US Olympic badminton, canoe/kayak, road and track cycling, diving, gymnastics, judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, swimming, synchronised swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, triathlon, volleyball and weightlifting teams.

Winners in Paralympics teams sporting this fashion include boccia, cycling, goal ball, judo, powerlifting, rowing, sailing, swimming, table tennis, track and field, wheelchair fencing and wheelchair tennis.


The Nike MKll Jacket, Game Pant and AF1 Lo/Slim is the outfit for "Look Two" (pictured above, centre) and will be worn by podium atheletes from the basketball, field hockey, soccer, indoor volleyball and water polo US Olympic teams.

Champions in the sitting volleyball, soccer, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby Paralymic teams will also wear "Look Two".

The final outfit, "Look Three" (pictured above, right), to be worn by medallists from the US Olympic Teams of archery, boxing, BMX and mountain cycling, equestrian, fencing, shooting and wrestling and Paralympic teams of archery, equestrian and shooting will consist of the Nike Varsity Bomber Classic, Hawthorne Dri-FIT Stretch 5 Pocket Jean and Blazer Mid LR.

Of the design direction and attention to detail involved in creating the new medal stand ensembles, Nike's Olympic global creative director Martin Lotti said: "The medal stand is a pinnacle moment for these athletes.

"The world is watching and we want to make sure the athlete looks and feels good in celebration of their achievement."
