Basketball Ireland_7_JulyJuly 17 - Molten, the world's leading manufacturer of sports balls and equipment, is to continue its backing of Basketball Ireland from this September.

Through the renewed agreement the Molten 12-panel basketball will be used exclusively as the official ball for Basketball Ireland – the country's national governing body – in all international and domestic games, including schools, colleges and universities.

Under the terms of the deal – announced by its UK and Ireland distributor – Molten will provide Basketball Ireland with a range of its top basketballs along with additional funding to support the organisation's work in developing the sport in the country.

Bernard J O'Byrne, secretary general of Basketball Ireland, said: "We believe we have played our role in making the Molten brand such a big part of Irish basketball and we look forward to continuing this in games across the 32 counties of Ireland."

Bob Hope, chairman of UK and Ireland's Molten distributor, added: "We look forward with anticipation to working with Basketball Ireland in taking the game's profile to a new level in the coming years."

The Molten BGL7/6 basketball is approved by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and serves as the official ball for all FIBA tournaments, major international championships and national teams worldwide.
