DECEMBER 18 - BRITISH VOLLEYBALL has appointed two new coaches in its goal to qualify in beach volleyball for the Olympics at Beijing in 2008 and make an impression in London 2012.

 

Jorg Ahmann, a bronze medallist for Germany at Sydney 2000, will direct the coaching programme in the UK.

 

He will be assisted by American Jeff Alzina, who will operate from California and hone the top pairings for the Beijing qualification circuit.

 

Britain's first and only Olympic beach volleyball appearance was in 1996.

 

Audrey Cooper and Amanda Glover finished ninth at the Atlanta Games, where the sport made its Olympic debut.
