October 4 - Britain's Michael Williams has hailed his re-election last month as a member of the Executive Committee and treasurer of the International Rowing Federation (FISA).

Williams, a former Cambridge Boat Race coxswain, who has been active within the sport for over 30 years now presides a fifth term on the Executive Committee as treasurer.
 

Williams, who coxed the winning Cambridge crew to victory in 1973, said: “I am delighted to have been re-elected as Treasurer of FISA for a fifth term particularly as this term will include London 2012 at a time when British rowing is going from strength to strength.”
 

Ben Calveley, the head of International Relations at UK Sport, said: "Michael’s re-election to the Executive Board for a fifth term is a testament to this commitment and dedication and comes at such a significant time ahead of London 2012.

"I am delighted that through Michael the UK maintains such high profile representation in the sport and we congratulate him and wish him luck."
 

Di Ellis  the chair of the Amateur Rowing Association (ARA), said: “Mike has a proven track record of sound financial management and I am extremely pleased that he has been re-elected as FISA treasurer.

"The appointment of Mike helps to maintain British rowing's aim to identify and retain post-holders of the highest calibre who can voice British standards and ideals at an International level."
