altFANS from across the globe can watch live and on demand action from the men's and women's tournaments at next month's Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009 through the official tournament web site, it was announced today.

Rugby World Cup Sevens will offer live coverage from all men's and women's matches on the main pitch in Dubai, as well as on demand coverage from pitch two.

For US$19.99 (£14.00) fans not able to be in Dubai can watch all three days of action, while there is also a separate final day pass for only US$9.99 (£7.00).

Fans can sign up now by going to www.rwcsevens.com.

Beth Coalter, the tournament director, said:  "This is a first for Sevens and for the World Cup and it is an extremely exciting development.

"Global television coverage of Sevens and the World Series has grown massively over the last few years but there are still people out there unable to watch the action.

"Rugby World Cup Sevens Live will open the sport to those people, and give fans the priceless ability to watch games, tries and plays back as many times as they like, when they like, which is probably key to its popularity."

Earlier, the International Rugby Board (IRB) announced the event is due to be screened in a record 140 countries by 25 international broadcasters.

The Rugby World Cup Sevens, which is a key event in the sport's bid to regain its place on the Olympic programme in 2016, will be held on March 5-7 and involves 24 men's teams and 16 women's teams, including the men's defending champion's Fiji.
