The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) decided to stage this inaugural event in Russia, which will be hosting their first ever Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014, and Munich is hoping to impress its President, Sir Philip Craven, who, as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will have a vote when the host city for 2018 is chosen.

The day of celebrations will culminate with a spectacular open air show in Red Square featuring stars from entertainment and winter sports - including an international ice-sledge race.

Willy Bogner, the chief executive of Munich 2018, said: "We would like to congratulate the IPC on this special day.

"It is very important that Munich 2018 attends and learns from these milestone events and we want to start new friendships with all the key stakeholders.

"Munich 2018 fully supports the aims of International Paralympic Day to encourage and promote sport for people with a disability and to highlight the great diversity of Paralympic sports.

"In turn this engagement with sport will help promote a barrier-free society.

"Our candidature will reflect these aims."

The Munich 2018 delegation will be headed by Bernhard Schwank, its joint managing director.

The German national ice-sledge Team will also attend at the international demonstration contest which will include teams from around the world.

Germany successfully staged the International Paralympic Day for the IPC in Berlin earlier this year.

Annecy and Pyeongchang are also bidding for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
