Radcliffe beaten by her old nemesis Tulu

November 1 - Britain's Paula Radcliffe (pictured) suffered her first defeat in a marathon outside of the Olympics when Derartu Tulu produced a stunning return to form to claim victory in the New York City Marathon and finishing ahead of a world record field of 43,741 runners here today.





Athletics South Africa in new row

October 29 - Athletics South Africa (ASA), already under fire for its handling over the Caster Semenya (pictured) scandal, is at the centre of a new row over they were accused of misleading the country's Parliamentary Sports Committee over claims that they had withheld funding to help athletes prepare for the London 2012 Olympics.


Joy for Turner, despair for Lewis-Francis

October 27 - Andy Turner has been restored to National Lottery funding by UK Athletics a year after being cut but Mark Lewis-Francis (pictured), who anchored Britain's 4x100 metres relay team to the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, has had his support withdrawn after an injury-ravaged two years.
