Badminton officials to visit London to discuss Wembley row

January 18 - Thomas Lund (pictured), the chief operating officer of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), today revealed that he is due to fly to London later this month to try to sort out the venue for his sport at the 2012 Olympics as they continue to resist attempts to make them move to Wembley Arena.





Saina signs with Olympic Gold Quest

December 12 - Saina Nehwal (pictured), India's top badminton player and one of the nation's brightest hopes for an Olympic medal, has signed a three-year contract with Olympic Gold Quest, a not for profit sports foundation until the 2012 London Olympics.

November 25 - Sir Craig Reedie (pictured), a former President of the International Badminton Federation (IBF) and member of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) ruling Executive Board, has urged the sport to accept the proposal for it to be relocated to Wembley Arena when London hosts the 2012 Olympics.



We could not justify temporary venue in this climate says Deighton

November 10 - Paul Deighton (pictured), the chief executive of the London 2012 Olympics, has told badminton and rhythmic gymnastics that they could not justify spending £40 million on a temporary venue to host their sports in this current economic climate and that moving them to Wembley Arena is an acceptable solution.
