As expected, Australian taekwondo fighters took half of 16 gold medals in the Taekwondo tournament of the Pacific Games in Solomon Islands. In women’s competition Juliet Lahood (49 kg), Stacey Hymer (57 kg), Rebecca Murray (67 kg) and Reba Stewart (+73) didn’t give any chance to their opponents. In men’s competition Benjamin Camua (59 kg), Matthew Summerfield (68 kg), Liam Sweeney (80 kg) and Tyrone Staben (87 kg) won the champions’ titles. 

The New Caledonia delegation finished the 18th edition of the Pacific Games at the top of the medal table. With 197 medals, including 82 golds, they solidified their position as the best, followed by the next Games' host, Tahiti, who surpassed the giant Australia with 160 medals, including 57 golds.

With one day remaining to conclude the XVII Pacific Games held in the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia extends its lead over Tahiti, accumulating 82 gold medals, 25 more than its competitor, who has a 7-medal advantage over Australia in the battle for the podium. Tahitian kayakers once again secured gold and silver medals during the marathon races at the XVII Pacific Games in DC Park, maintaining their lead over Australia by 3 medals (51 to 48). New Caledonia remains in the lead with 77 medals with two days to go.

Tahiti concluded the seventh day of the Pacific Games Sol2023 with two golds on the first day of va'a and surpassed Australia in the battle for the second place by one gold. New Caledonia doubles their gold count.

The flagship sport of the games will commence today, November 27, at the XVII Sol2023 Pacific Games, running from Monday, November 27, to Saturday, December 2, at the Honiara National Stadium. It will feature 400 athletes from 22 countries and territories in 29 track and field events.

Fiji defended their gold medals in both men's and women's rugby 7s competitions on Saturday night, securing two medals. Grangeon De Villele of New Caledonia claimed 13 golds in swimming.

An unprecedented table tennis final took place at the Sol2023 Pacific Games when two twin sisters faced off for the Gold in the Mixed Doubles Table Tennis Final at the HCC Arena. Emotions ran high in women's basketball, and New Caledonia dominated in swimming.

New Caledonia continues to lead the Sol2023 medal tally, and much of the credit goes to swimming. With 40 medals in the water and 16 golds with one day of aquatic competitions remaining, they hold a significant lead over their closest pursuers, Australia and Samoa, doubling the number of medals.

Another thrilling day unfolded at the Pacific Games. Two new swimming records, surprises, and multiple medals for lesser-known swimmers. In other sports, quarterfinal matchups are starting to take shape, while New Caledonia continues to lead the medal tally.

The Donga siblings, Stan and Rowena, each secured three bronze medals in the first two days of action at Maranatha Hall, while surprises unfolded in swimming at Sol 2023 with a large audience in the stands.

Rugby league 9s, judo, sailing, swimming, and weightlifting continue their activities on the second day of competitions in the XVII edition of the largest multi-sport tournament in Oceania, taking place in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.

The Sol2023 Pacific Games officially began on Sunday night with a vibrant Opening Ceremony at Solomon Islands’ newly built National Stadium in Honiara. The multi-sport event happens every four years among athletes from Oceania and this year it's being hosted by Solomon Islands from November 19 to December 2.
