JULY 9 - THE horses that William Fox-Pitt (pictured) and Mary King will ride during the eventing at the Olympics next month have been selected.

It follows the Barbury Castle Horse Trials at the weekend.

Fox-Pitt will ride Philip Adkins’ Parkmore Ed and King will ride Edwin and Sue Davies and Janette Chinn’s Call Again Cavalier in Hong Kong, where the equestrian events for the Games are being staged.

Fox-Pitt, who was originally named with three possible horses for Britain's Olympic eventing team, will, barring accidents, ride the15-year-old Parkmore Ed, on whom he won Burghley, the horse's first four-star event, last September.

He had finished second on him at Barbury as his other horses under consideration, Ballincoola and Tamarillo, finished fourth and fifth respectively.

King had finished eighth on Call Again Cavalier, the horse she rode when she finished second in last year's European Championships.

The Olympic horses will have one final outing at Aston Le Walls on July 18 and 19, however some horses may not run the cross country.

They are due to leave for Hong Kong on July 30.
