Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping released a statement welcoming the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) move to allow Russians to compete as neutrals after meeting in Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach for its "unwavering position" on the suspension of Russian and Belarus during a face to face meeting in Kyiv.

Poland have insisted they will not play Russia in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match next month, even after it was announced that the fixture would be moved to a neutral venue.

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has cancelled the World Junior Swimming Championships in Kazan and vowed not to hold "any future events in Russia if this grave crisis continues".

The Norwegian Skating Federation (NSF), which is set to host the International Skating Union (ISU) World Speed Skating Championships next month, has followed the country's National Olympic Committee in declaring that Russian and Belarusian athletes should be banned from the event.

The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NIF) and National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark (DIF) have called for athletes representing Russia and Belarus to be banned from international sports events in light of the invasion of Ukraine.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said no decision has yet been made regarding the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers involving Russia in light of Vladimir Putin launching an invasion of Ukraine. 

Several International Federations are monitoring the situation involving Ukraine and Russia, although there are no plans at this stage to move major sporting events.
