David Smtanine_26-03-12March 26 - David Smétanine (pictured) and Charles Rozoy have achieved qualifying times for the London 2012 Paralympics after impressive performances in the 50 metres freestyle of the French National Swimming Championships in Angoulême.

Rozoy was unable to defeat the multiple French champion Smétanine, who won in a time of 27:20sec, to add to his 100m and 200m freestyle titles.

Rozoy's time of 27:86 means that he stands a good chance of selection when the final decision is made on July 4.

"I am happy to have made this time," said Rozoy, who is a nine times French national champion and a world record holder in the 50m butterfly.

"I am going to take a week off before getting back to work."

Rozoy also claimed victory in 100m butterfly in a time of 1:01.92 to cap an impressive showing at the Centre Nautilis in Charente.

In total some 13 swimmers have realised Paralympic qualifying times, with Élodie Lorandi, the five time European champion, foremost among them, who claimed gold in the 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle.

The 50m butterfly and 400m individual medley world record holder looks to be in good shape to improve on the silver medal she won in the 200m individual medley at Beijing 2008.
