Spearheaded by the superb Ryley Batt (pictured top), Australia dominated the competition as they defeated Canada 66-51 in the final at the Basketball Arena to finish as the only undefeated team in the London 2012 wheelchair rugby competition.

Also on the shortlist is Canada men's wheelchair basketball team who, led by the legendary Patrick Anderson, picked up their third Paralympic gold in the last four Games in London with a win against Australia in the final.

Bosnia's men's sitting volleyball team are next on the list after they claimed gold at the ExCeL arena with a win in the final against Iran, while Brazil's five-a-side football squad are also up for the prize after defeating European champions France 2-0 in the gold medal match.

The Chinese women's sitting volleyball team make the shortlist after defeating the United States in the title game and Finland's men's goalball team are nominated after unexpectedly making it to the title game and then dominating Brazil 8-0 in the final to win gold.

The shortlist is completed by Germany's women's wheelchair basketball team who defeated Australia for gold at the North Greenwich Arena to better their silver-medal finish at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics.

The public now has until October 23 to vote for their favourite team performance at paralympic.org.

Unlike the usual system where there is an athlete of the month, the IPC is awarding a winner for two months as the London 2012 Paralympic Games took place across both August and September.

There are separate awards for the best male athlete, best female athlete and the best team.

Alex Zanardi claimed the male prize after the Italian former Formula One driver claimed two Paralympic gold medals and a silver in handcycling, while Muffy Davis claimed the female prize after the American claimed three Paralympic gold medals, also in handcycling.
