Kevin Tyler_17-10-12October 17 - Kevin Tyler, the Canadian whose work since 2008 as UK Athletics' strategic head of coaching and development has been described as the "secret legacy" of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is leaving in order to return to his home country with his family.

In 2011, UK Athletics was honoured as Sports Coach UK's "Coaching Governing Body of the Year" in recognition of the work done by Tyler (pictured top) and his team in the home countries developing a new coach education system.

Tyler leaves in place a fully revamped British coach education system, supported by world class coaching resources, such as UK Athletics' online home of coach education – uCoach.

"It has been a privilege to work with UK Athletics over these past four years in the build-up to a home Games," said Tyler, who will remain with the organisation until the end of the year.

"There has been a significant level of investment in coach development and education, and it has been great that UK Athletics has prioritised this area.

"The launch of uCoach has demonstrated the long term ambitions of ensuring the best expertise is not lost, and I have been proud to work alongside fantastic staff and strong home country development teams, who will ensure the great achievements of the past four years are continued."

UK Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos said: "I would like to thank Kevin for his valued work at UK Athletics, and wish him and his family the very best in the future.

"We have been very fortunate to have had an individual of Kevin's calibre leading this vital work and establishing such an impressive platform which will safeguard the future of athletics coaching in the United Kingdom.

"We will now start the process of finding Kevin's successor, as we look to build towards Rio 2016 in the next four year cycle."
