Lopchan (pictured top), who was senior office driver at the NPC, died in London on September 18, shortly after the conclusion of the Paralympics, following a suicide attempt a week earlier at the Games where he tried to hang himself with a rope.

The 45-year-old failed to recover and died of hypoxic brain injury and suspension while undergoing treatment at Royal London Hospital.

Reports suggested that London 2012 was preparing to perform the last rites of Lopchan but it is confirmed that the issue has now reached a conclusion after his body was returned.

"Our medical repatriation insurers liaised with the family to make arrangements for the repatriation of the body and this has now happened," a London 2012 spokesperson told insidethegames.

At the London 2012 Paralympics Nepal had just two athletes in attendance with Bikram Rana competing in the men's T11 100 and 200 metres and Maiya Bisunkhe competing in the women's T46 100m and 200m.

However, both failed to qualify for the finals of their respective events, meaning Nepal left the Paralympics without a medal.

It means that the South Asian nation has yet to win a Paralympic medal, having made its debut at the Games in Athens in 2004 when Nirmala Gyawali competed in the women's F12 shot-put.
