ICON will "dress" Glasgow 2014 venues across Scotland with the event's unique brandingOctober 15 - Glasgow 2014 has today named ICON, the company that branded all 192 London 2012 Olympic venues, as the official provider of look, wayfinding and signage services for next year's Commonwealth Games.

The branding specialist, which as well as rolling out the visual look of the London 2012 Games has worked with the UEFA Champions League and 2012 European Championship, the 2010 Ryder Cup, the past two FIFA World Cups and Wimbledon, will "dress" Glasgow 2014 venues across Scotland with the unique event design.

"We are delighted with the appointment of ICON as our official provider of look, wayfinding and signage services as they bring extensive experience and knowledge of high profile sporting events of this scale," Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said.

"They understand the passion that the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games will ignite and I am sure that they will be a major contributor in creating the atmosphere that ensures the Games will be long remembered."

ICON, which becomes a sponsor of Glasgow 2014, will be based at the Organising Committee's headquarters as part of the look and wayfinding team as it works to produce and implement branding across venues ahead of the Games taking place from July 23 to August 3 next year.

Glasgow 2014 says that ICON has "already reached out to numerous Scotland-based manufacturing and crewing companies" to help it deliver the widespread branding.

John Francis, ICON's chief executive, said his firm is "really excited" about the opportunity to work with Glasgow 2014.

"We are looking forward to working with the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee to deliver a comprehensive and unified Look of the Games across the Commonwealth Games venues, the City of Glasgow and the rest of Scotland," he added.

"We will also be scoping and implementing the wayfinding signs that will guide spectators from transport hubs, into and around the venues.

"This is a large and complicated project, which is why we are providing an experienced team who have a proven track record of delivering this kind of complete service on major events, most recently for London 2012.

"We are confident of delivering a spectacular Look for the Glasgow 2014 venues, for Glasgow and for Scotland."
