The 2018 Junior Ryder Cup is set to be held in Disneyland Paris ©European TourDisneyland Paris has been selected as the host of the 2018 Junior Ryder Cup, after being nominated by the French Golf Federation (FFG) and endorsed by both Ryder Cup Europe and the European Golf Association.

To celebrate the announcement, the 12 players set to participate for Team Europe in the upcoming Junior Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, enjoyed a day of fun at the world-famous theme park.

The venue was considered by all parties as the ideal location to host the Junior Ryder Cup with the pedigree of the prestigious Championship course already proved through major tour events, such as a European Challenge Tour back in 1993 and the Challenge de France in 2011.

The resort is located just 60 kilometres from the Le Golf National, host venue of the 2018 Ryder Cup and the first ever French host of golf's most prestigious team event.

Both the junior and senior Ryder Cups will take place on the same week in 2018, marking a huge year for golf in France.

The venue also fits with the Legacy programme of the FFG, as the country looks to use the high profile of the Ryder Cup and the Junior Ryder Cup as a catalyst to spread the game to children across the country and find the next Victor Dubuisson, himself a former Junior Ryder Cup player in 2006.

"Paris and the Ile de France region will give us the unique opportunity to turn the 2018 edition into the most beautiful in the history of The Ryder Cup," said Pascal Grizot, vice-president of the FFG and chairman of Ryder Cup France 2018.

"We will offer all the fans an exceptional experience.

"By hosting the Junior Ryder Cup, Disneyland Paris will greatly contribute to kick off an unforgettable week.

"This Junior Ryder Cup will also allow a great number of young people to come discover the best players in junior golf in a venue that makes children dream all year long."

The Junior Ryder Cup, like the senior equivalent, is a biennial contest played between two teams representing Europe and America.

Unlike the senior Ryder Cup, the junior counterpart pits teams of six boys and six girls against one another, with players all under the age of 18.

"This is an historic day for the development of the Ryder Cup, Junior Ryder Cup and European golf," said Richard Hills, Ryder Cup director.

"The French Golf Federation and Disneyland Paris both present unique assets, as well top quality entertaining activities.

"This is an opportunity to seize if we wish to develop golf in France, in Europe and throughout the world."

The 2014 edition is due to take place at The Blairgowrie Golf Club from September 22 to 23, when Stuart Wilson's European team will take on Brian Whitcomb's United States team.

The latter will endeavour to keep the trophy they won in 2012, by scoring 14½-9½ at Olympia Fields in Chicago.
