The Standing Committee met to discuss preparations for next month's visit ©Bahrain Olympic CommitteeBahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) chiefs are getting ready to host a delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) promoting an award for outstanding female athletes.

The Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Award for Woman Athletes is named in honour of Sheikha Fatima - often referred to as the mother of sheikhs and the mother of the UAE.

A Standing Committee of the BOC has been tasked with preparing to host a delegation from the UAE who will promote the award in Bahrain.

At the Committee's second preparatory meeting, members went through updates on the schedule of the visit and examined the requirements of the delegation.

They are scheduled to arrive in Bahrain next month and are due to meet with officials, athletes, coaches, administrators and members of the media.

The meeting was chaired by director of media and public relations at the BOC, Mohammed Lori, in the presence of BOC Board member and Women's Sports Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.

The Organising Committee of the award is headed by chairwoman of the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza Al Nahyan.

BOC members are due to host the delegation from October 12 to 14.
