Japan snatched a 1-0 win against Germany to set up an encounter with Paraguay ©IBSAParaguay and Japan will battle it out for fifth place at the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Blind Football World Championship on Monday (November 24) after beating Colombia and Germany respectively in today's placement matches in Tokyo.

Paraguay bounced back from their penalty shootout defeat to Spain in yesterday's quarter-final to beat Colombia by the same method after a 1-1 draw in the Japanese capital.

Hosts Japan scored the only goal of the game to overcome Germany, who face Colombia on Monday for the right to finish seventh.

Elsewhere, France edged past Morocco in a 1-0 victory and will now go up against South Korea, 1-0 winners against Turkey, with ninth place at stake tomorrow.

The two losing sides, Morocco and Turkey, also meet tomorrow as they strive to avoid finishing in last place.

The Championship semi-finals, which pit European champions Spain against Argentina and holders Brazil against China, take place tomorrow as well.
