The International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (Inas) have announced they have signed an agreement with travel company WGT Sport who will become their preferred travel supplier.

The two organisations have been working closely together for more than a year and they have now opted to formalise the partnership.

The announcement was made to coincide with Inas’ inaugural Global ID Sports Day, aimed at raising awareness and celebrating intellectually disabled sport.

It will see WGT Sport, a specialist partner of British Airways, source travel plans for Inas athletes, as well as its member organisations to ensure that every trip is well-planned, is cost effective and that it meets stringent Inas requirements.

The company will help with travel arrangements for the governing body’s 15 different championships due to take place over a calendar year.

WGT Sport will also donate to Inas after every booking and the company’s managing director Phillip Betts spoke of his delight at the deal.

“I am very pleased that WGT Sport Ltd has become a preferred supplier of travel management for INAS,” he said.

“We are delighted to support athletes with an intellectual disability through our excellent service, as well as make a financial contribution to support their work.”

The British-based travel company have over 30 years’ experience working with National and International Olympic sporting organisations, as well as other sports management companies.

The deal marks another important milestone for Inas ahead of their Global Games this year, due to take place in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito.

Inas member organisations and partners from across the world came together recently to support the Global ID Sports Day initiative, with Portugal hosting an international indoor rowing event and Brazil staging a futsal event in São Paulo.
