Hamburg 2024 has unveiled a new campaign song, entitled "Ready for It", as the publicity campaign in the city intensifies ahead of next month's referendum on whether to press ahead with the German bid.

The catchy dance song, released alongside a video showcasing some of the prospective host city's best-known landmarks, is specially-produced by Hamburg-based producer Phil Speiser, founder of the SPYZR project.

Although the lyrics are in English, the video is interspersed with German subtitles and messages publicising the bid.

It has already been viewed more than 32,000 times on YouTube.

Hamburg is locked in a five-horse race for the Games with Budapest, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome, but is the only one currently planning to hold a referendum to demonstrate public support.

Several of its rivals are already focusing mostly on international audiences, but Hamburg must first past the domestic ballot and is still trying to capture the hearts and minds of its local citizens.

Support for the bid remains mixed, but German organisers will be boosted by a recent opinion poll indicating how 63 per cent of local residents are in favour of the attempt for what would be the first Olympics to be held in the country since Munich in 1972.

A special pro-Olympic event is due to take place next month on November 8 in City Park, with more information available here.

Following the referendum, the results of which are expected to be known on November 29 or 30, the candidature process is expected to continue until the decisive vote at the 2017 International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Lima.
