The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) has announced the latest batch of events which have been added to the 2016 calendar, including competitions in judo and showdown.

The Brazilian Blind Sports Confederation (BBSC) will host the fifth International Judo Grand Prix Infraero and training camp from March 4 to 10 in Paralympics host Rio de Janeiro, with the registration deadline coming on January 15.

Those who may want to enter the competition can do so by contacting the BBSC on [email protected].

Vilnius in Lithuania is then scheduled to stage an international tournament and training camp in July.

The event in the Lithuanian capital will run from July 22 to 26 and will give athletes the final chance to hone their preparations ahead of the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.

Judokas who wish to take part in the event must register their interest by April 15.

Following the completion of the European Judo Championships in Portugal last month, judokas will be given the opportunity to compete at the 2016 Open German Judo Championships in Heidelberg on February 6.

Hosted by the German Disability Sports Federation and the German Judo Federation, the Championship will be held during an International Training Camp, due to run from February 5 until 9.

Vilinus will also stage an international showdown tournament next year, which will be staged from June 16 to 19.

The deadline for entries is on March 1 and interested parties can contact the Lithuanian Blind Sports Federation by e-mailing [email protected] in order to guarantee a place at the competition.

Elsewhere, the ASEAN Goalball Federation will hold a level one referees' clinic in Nakhon Sawan province in Thailand from January 10 to 16 in collaboration with the Sports Association for the Blind of Thailand.
