Lee Chong Wei and Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin both came through their semi-final ties at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold in Penang to set up an all-Malaysian men’s singles final.

Top seed Lee beat Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto 21-19, 21-15 after compatriot Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin had overcome India's Srikanth Kidambi 27-25, 21-9.

Tomorrow’s final is due to take place after the women’s showdown, which will feature Indian number three seed Pusarla Venkata Sindhu and Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour.

Sindhu defeated South Korean top seed Sung Ji-hyun 21-19, 12-21, 21-10, while Gilmour came from behind to win 12-21, 21-18, 21-8 against Japan’s Yui Hashimoto.

Hosts Malaysia will also be bidding for top honours in the mixed doubles and men’s doubles.

Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing booked their place in the mixed doubles final after beating compatriots Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying 21-17, 21-16 in the semi-finals.

They will face China’s Zheng Ziwei and Li Yinhui, who defeated Hong Kong’s Lee Chun Hei and Hoi Wah Chau 21-17, 21-14.

Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong will represent Malaysia in the men’s doubles final following a 15-21, 21-18, 21-16 win against South Korea’s Kim Sa-rang and Kim Gi-jung.

Their opponents will be Indonesia’s Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Markus Fernaldi Gideon, who beat Japan’s Keigo Sonoda and Takeshi Kamura 21-7, 21-17.

Japan’s Ayaka Takahashi and Misaki Matsutomo, 21-12, 22-20 winners against China’s Du Yue and Li Yinhui, will be vying for women’s doubles success.

Standing in their way are Chinese duo Yu Yang and Tang Yuanting, who defeated South Korea’s Chang Ye-na and Lee So-hee 21-12, 21-8.
