Singapore's three-time Commonwealth Games gold medal winner Jasmine Ser Xiang Wei claimed her country's first shooting quota place for Rio 2016 with victory in the women's 50 metres rifles 3 positions event at the Asian Olympic Qualifier in New Delhi today.

Ser, who took gold in the same event at Glasgow 2014 as well as 10m air rifle and 50m rifle pairs titles four years earlier in Delhi, had been down in second place in the kneeling section before slipping to fourth in the prone event.

But in the last, and decisive, standing part, she shot superbly to overtake South Korea's Lee Kyerim and claim gold with 458.0 points.

Iran’s Mahlagha Jambozorg also rose up the standings to claim the second quota place and the silver medal with 455.4 points, while Lee also qualified despite falling to third.

South Korea were utterly dominant in the 25m pistol competition which followed, with rising star Koh Eun finishing top of the pile.

She recovered from behind after the first series of the final to defeat team-mate Kim Minjung by eight points to two.

Their compatriot Kim Ji Hye completed the clean sweep with victory over Japan’s Akiko Sato in the first place playoff.

Sato received the consolation of a quota place, however, due to South Korea having already claimed the maximum two.

Sixth placed Shun Xie Teo continued a good day for Singapore with the final Olympic spot.

The Asian Qualifier is being held in New Delhi after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) refused to recognise last year's continental championships in Kuwait City due to Kuwait being also suspended from the IOC for Government interference.

Action is due to continue tomorrow with the men's 10m air pistol and women's skeet finals.
