Sparks were crowned the winners of the women’s European Premiere Cup as the Dutch softball champions defeated the Czech Republic’s Joudrs in the gold medal match in Ronchi, Italy.

The two teams were among eight winners of their National Championship, plus an extra Italian team, which gave them the right to compete for the title of European club champions.

Three-time winners Sparks were able to triumph once again in the competition, after winning the final match against Joudrs by a 3-1 scoreline.

Forli finished as the third best team in the competition, finishing ahead of their Italian rivals Bussolengo.

The European Cup B tournament took place simultaneously, with the winners advancing to next season’s Premiere Cup competition.

Malta's Mediterraneo were crowned winners of the tournament, beating the Czech Republic’s Storms into first place.

The men’s Super Cup competition, the highest level softball event in the continent, saw Italy’s Pro Roma team emerge as the winners.

They defeated Belgian side Braves in the final to successfully defend their title at the event, which was held in four venues across Italy.

The Czech Republic’s Spectrum Praha finished third, ending ahead of the Danish outfit Stenlose Bulls.

The tournament split into two after the round robin phase of the event, with the top nine teams contesting the Super Cup and the remaining nine contesting the European Softball Federation (ESF) Cup.

BSC Quick Amersfoort emerged as the winners of the ESF Cup, with the Dutch team defeating France’s Pessac Pantheres.
