Great Britain tonight beat Brazil 4-3 to progress to the deciding match of the fourth and final qualification tournament for the 2017 World Baseball Classic (WBC) at at MCU Park in Brooklyn in New York City. 

The tournament continued the home of the New York Mets' Class A affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones on Coney Island  with Britain narrowly progressing to the final where they will face Israel.

Israel beat Brazil in the winners bracket game yesterday, meaning they moved straight into tomorrow's final.

Brazil were given another opportunity to progress against Britain but they squandered it as they were narrowly beaten.

The teams appeared to be evenly matched as the contest began, with neither side able to gain the upper hand with the score remaining tied at 0-0 after the first two innings.

The majority of the game's runs were scored in the third as Britain managed to take the lead, posting three to Brazil's two.

Neither side were immediately able to add any more to their totals as three more scoreless innings followed.

The Europeans added a fourth run in the seventh innings which was immediately cancelled out by Brazil in the eighth.

Brazil drew another blank in the final turn-around to give Britain the win, securing their place in the final.

Israel will be confident going into the contest against Britain having already defeated them 5-2 on the opening night of action.

The winner of tomorrow's final will go on to play in Pool B of the WBC in South Korea's capital Seoul next year, against the hosts, The Netherlands and Chinese Taipei.

In February, Australia won a qualifying tournament in Sydney to reach the WBC.

Defending champions Dominican Republic and the 2013 runners-up Puerto Rico will also be competing.

Also qualified are Japan, China, Italy, Cuba, United States, Venezuela and Canada.

Japan, Mexico and the US will also host pools, as well as South Korea.
