More than 300 people took part in the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee's (FASANOC) Women in Sports Commission "Walk and Talk" events.

Held in both the capital Suva and Nadi, the events began at 6.30am with numbers gradually growing throughout the day.

The event is seen as an "opportunity for women to share their experiences and stories while on a leisurely morning walk".

Participants at My Suva Park in the capital began their day with a zumba fitness session led by Litiana Miller, with those in Nadi enjoying a morning warm-up session.

Following the short walk, a healthy breakfast, consisting mainly of fruit, was on offer as well as free medical health checks.

Some of those in attendance were cancer survivors, who shared their experiences with others present.

Various other activities were also conducted by FASANOC "champions" from the organisation's Sports Outreach Training Programme.

The champions are some of Fiji's elite athletes, who help FASANOC promote a message of healthy living and a good lifestyle.

Fiji is currently on a sporting high after winning their first Olympic medal of any colour - a gold - at Rio 2016 in August.

It came courtesy of the men's rugby sevens team who beat Britain in the final as the sport made its debut on the Olympic stage.
