National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran President Kiumars Hashemi has thanked a teacher in the country for the work she has done as part of the organisation’s education programme.

Fatemeh Jamshidi Gohari has been singled out by the Iranian NOC for her contribution to the scheme, which was rolled out in August of this year.

Gohari was praised for her "excellent creativity" after she published a book called Olympic in School.

The book details her practical experiences as part of the education initiative throughout the Kerman Province, located in the southeast of the country.

A film related to this matter which illustrates students’ anxiety and curiosity for learning during physical education lessons at school has also been produced.

The project for physical education teachers aims to "enhance Olympic education and Olympism" among students and young people.

It began with a workshop in Tehran after a book called "Lesson from Olympics" was compiled, translated and published.

The teachers in attendance were high-level physical education teachers in Tehran, the capital city.

Now, it is hoped, they will be able to pass on what they have learnt to their respective students.

Iran won three gold medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Wrestler Hassan Yazdani triumphed in the men's freestyle 74kg category, while two further golds came in weightlifting.

Sohrab Moradi was crowned as men's 94kg champion with Kianoush Rostami clinching 85kg glory.

There was also a notable bronze medal for taekwondo player Kimia Alizadeh Zenoorin.

Her joint-third place in the women's 57kg discipline made her the first Iranian female to win an Olympic medal.

Iran won three other bronze medals, all in wrestling.
