South Africa’s AB de Villiers and Trent Boult of New Zealand have started 2017 by being confirmed as the top ranked One Day International players by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The latest round of rankings were published today by the sport’s global governing body with De Villiers topping the batting list while left-arm paceman Boult leading the way for bowlers.

India’s Virat Kohli and Australia’s David Warner complete the top three spots in the batting while South African spinner Imran Tahir and West Indian Sunil Narine sit second and third in the bowling top 10 respectively.

The biggest climbers in the bowling rankings was Bangladesh quick Mustafizur Rahman, who was also recently named an ICC Emerging Player of the Year, moving 19 places up from 48th to 29th.

Spinner Mitchell Santner also had a big leap up the table as the New Zealander went from 50th to 34th place following his nation’s 3-0 series win over Bangladesh.

Another Kiwi player, Tom Latham, jumped 11 places up the batting rankings to 33rd position after hitting 137 in the first match of the recent series.

There was no change in the team rankings, with Australia leading the way on 120 points ahead of South Africa, 116, and India, 111.
