The Mongolian National Olympic Committee (MNOC) held a celebration to mark International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

MNOC vice-president Tsend Damdin was among those in attendance at Olympic House in Ulaanbaatar, along with secretary general Enkhbat Badar-Uugan and National Olympic Academy President Choijgavaa Zorigtbaatar.

A total of 60 school children participated in festivities at Burte Chono plaza, with MNOC claiming they showed "unity and willingness for pure sports and peace".

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is held annually on April 6.

Officially declared by the United Nations in 2013 and supported by the International Olympic Committee, the day celebrates the power of sport to drive social change, foster peace and promote understanding.

It falls on the anniversary of the first Modern Olympic Games in 1896.

International Federations showed their support for the day by attending the Peace and Sport booth at the 2017 SportAccord Convention in Danish city Aarhus and taking a photograph as part of the #WhiteCard campaign.

It invited people to take pictures of themselves with white cards, before sharing them on social media.

This year's theme was "Show us where you Play your Peace".

Peace and Sport's Champions for Peace ambassadors, including Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva, also held events to mark the day and the #WhiteCard initiative.
